French energy distributor Rexel is acquiring GCG, a specialty wire and cable platform serving critical applications, in a deal announced Sept. 25.
Rexel, a publicly traded distributor of energy management products and services, announced plans Thursday to acquire GCG, a specialty wire and cable distribution platform known for delivering value-added solutions to critical-application markets, the companies said in a joint statement released in Chicago.
GCG has built its reputation as a leading player in the specialty wire and cable segment, a niche that demands technical expertise and reliable supply chains for industries where product failure carries significant operational risk. The transaction represents Rexel's continued push to expand its North American footprint and deepen its portfolio in high-specification electrical distribution.

Rexel, which is publicly listed and operates across multiple continents, has been actively pursuing acquisitions to strengthen its position in the energy management supply chain. Terms of the deal were not disclosed in the initial announcement.
